Rewiring America CEO Ari Matusiak named to TIME100 Climate list
The recognition highlights leadership through a pivotal year for U.S. climate and energy policy.
Oct. 30, 2025—TIME has named Ari Matusiak, CEO and co-founder of Rewiring America, to its TIME100 2025 Climate list, honoring leaders advancing real-world solutions to the climate crisis. The recognition comes during a defining year for the organization and the broader clean energy movement.
Since its founding in 2020, Rewiring America has reframed climate action around a single, powerful idea: that households should be at the center of a clean energy future. Under Matusiak’s leadership, the organization informed the Inflation Reduction Act’s consumer incentives and the $9 billion Home Energy Rebate Program, both of which made efficient electric appliances and clean technologies more affordable for millions of Americans.
In 2025, amid aggressive federal rollbacks to climate and energy efficiency programs, Rewiring America continued to lead by launching or piloting programs including:
- The Save on Better Appliances campaign — a user-friendly interface and outreach program to help families make the most of remaining tax credits before expiration
- A National Quality Contractor Network — which connects households with trusted HVAC professionals for installations
- Community-scale pilot programs in Rhode Island, Virginia, and Colorado — to help interested households get affordable home upgrades by negotiating bulk discounts with manufacturers
Rewiring America also released Homegrown Energy, a groundbreaking report demonstrating that household upgrades like heat pumps, solar, and battery storage could offset all projected U.S. electricity demand growth from data centers over the next five years. The analysis calls on hyperscalers and utilities to invest directly in households, creating a win-win opportunity to meet growing power needs while lowering costs for families and strengthening the grid.
“This recognition belongs to everyone driving this work forward — our team, our partners, and the communities proving what’s possible,” said Matusiak. “The household is not a passive consumer of energy. It’s an active part of the solution, infrastructure that can meet rising demand, lower bills, and help build a more affordable and climate-safe future for everyone.”
Since 2020, Rewiring America has helped secure billions of dollars in federal, state, and local investments for household electrification and created digital tools used nearly 2 million times by Americans to plan their own upgrades.
