July 15, 2021 - Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) has introduced the Zero-Emission Homes Act of 2021. The bill seeks to make household electrification easy and affordable through consumer rebates for modern, zero emission electric appliances, with additional support for low- and moderate-income households.

“Rewiring [America] has advanced the policy framework that demonstrates not just the dramatic climate benefits, but also the significant economic and jobs benefits for every community that can come with widespread electrification.”
— Senator Heinrich
July 20, 2021 - Our new poll shows that while voters across the political spectrum underestimate impact of household decisions on total U.S. carbon emissions, they favor monthly energy savings from and government support for electric appliances. As Congress considers historic infrastructure investments, these findings show bipartisan support for home electrification legislation, such as the Zero-Emission Homes Act of 2021.
June 3, 2021 - We teamed up with the Center for American Progress to propose a policy roadmap for federal infrastructure legislation that will enable the electrification of U.S. households by equalizing replacement costs with that of fossil-fueled appliances. The report calls for new consumer rebates that would remove the barriers to home electrification for all income levels, help U.S. residents save money on energy bills, create new jobs, and lower electric appliance prices.
May 18, 2021 - Our CEO Ari Matusiak speaks alongside U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich, Alex Padilla, Sheldon Whitehouse, and Richard Blumenthal, and advocates from BlocPower, Moms Clean Air Force, and Evergreen Action, to introduce the Electrifying America’s Future Resolution.
May 17, 2021 - The White House highlighted our latest policy proposal, Rewiring Communities. This program, designed in partnership with the Coalition for Green Capital, brings the economic, environmental, and health benefits of electrification to low- and moderate-income households in communities all across the country.
“… Independent analysts at the Coalition for Green Capital and Rewiring America issued a report today that shows how the Clean Energy Accelerator proposed in the American Jobs Plan could be used to drive an electrification program to secure energy bill savings of up to $750 per year for nearly 12 million American households (75 percent of which are low- to moderate-income). At the same time, the report found that the program, working through the Accelerator, could create nearly 700,000 good-paying, local jobs in every region in the country, while also driving down greenhouse gas emissions from households by up to 40 million metric tons a year by 2030, which is the equivalent of taking more than eight million cars off the road.”
