How does it work?
The Efficiency Rebates are designed to reward energy efficiency retrofits that are modeled to achieve or have achieved verifiable minimum energy use reductions. The incentive tiers are as follows:
- Retrofits with modeled energy system savings of 35 percent or more: the lesser of $4,000 or 50 percent of project costs.
- Retrofits with modeled energy system savings of 20-34 percent: the lesser of $2,000 or 50 percent of project costs.
- Retrofits with measured energy savings of 15 percent or more: the lesser of $100 per percent of energy saved or 50 percent of project cost. (Note that the $100 per percent of energy saved ratio must be true for the average home in the state, but the ratio may be higher or lower for individual households depending on state implementation.)
Incentives for low-income households (less than 80 percent of Area Median Income) are doubled, or up to 80 percent of project costs.
The Efficiency Rebates cannot be combined with the Electrification Rebates for the same single upgrade, but the two programs can be stacked for different upgrades within the same project. As we learn more about how households will experience this program, we’ll update this page.
